URGENT CARE SERVICES
At PAWS Veterinary Urgent Care, we offer a wide array of diagnostic and treatment services to address your pet's urgent medical needs.
- Bloodwork is essential for the diagnosis and treatment of numerous conditions and diseases. Bloodwork assesses red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, blood sugar, kidney function, liver function, thyroid function, electrolytes, pancreatic function, and more. We will discuss what panels are recommended for your pet.
- We can perform in-house urine testing to help diagnose urinary tract infections, inflammation, and other urinary conditions. We can also perform fecal testing to screen for intestinal parasites and other infectious disease.
- Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious and life-threatening disease. Early identification and treatment is imperative. - - The Parvo snap test is a rapid enzyme immunoassay test that uses feces to detect CPV in under 10 minutes. - - Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody (CPMA) is the first and only USDA-conditionally approved, one-dose parvovirus treatment. At PAWS we are excited to offer this new medication to give your pet a better chance at overcoming this deadly virus.
- Infectious disease testing is often needed to ensure appropriate treatment and risk to other pets. We will discuss recommended tests for your pet.
- Eyes are a vital part of your pet's health! We will perform a thorough ocular exam and make recommendations for further testing and treatment. - Tests we can perform: -
Corneal staining
-
Tear production
-
Intraocular pressure

-
- Our 4Dx test is a quick blood test that screens for heartworm disease and 3 of the most common tick-borne diseases (Lyme, Anaplasmosis and Ehrlichia).
- Radiographs are imperative in the diagnosis of several conditions and diseases. We offer digital radiography with quick interpretation and review by a Board Certified Radiologist.
- Ultrasonography is an incredibly useful diagnostic that aids in diagnosis and treatment of multiple diseases. We can perform point-of-care-ultrasound (POCUS) that assesses for free fluid in the body, which is used in more emergent cases. We can also perform full abdominal ultrasound to thoroughly assess all abdominal organs.
- Cytology is how we diagnose ear and skin infections. We obtain swabs of the ear canals and/or skin and assess under a microscope for infectious agents. - We also can perform a fine needle aspirate of skin and subcutaneous masses. This is a minimally invasive technique to obtain more information about masses and helps us provide further treatment recommendations.
- Accidents happen! Whether your pet got bit by another animal, has an infected wound, or got cut, we can help! We will perform a thorough physical exam and provide recommendations for wound management. If repair is needed, we will discuss sedation and primary closure with sutures.
- Your pet's comfort is urgent! We have several different pain medications and can discuss other forms of pain management as well. We will help make a plan that works for you and your pet!
- Euthanasia is one of the most important services we can offer pets. We strive to make this experience stress-free and peaceful for you and your pet. We will discuss the process and make sure you and your pet are comfortable. We will also review aftercare options.
